You MUST KNOW this about 2-LINERS
Просмотров 9 тыс.4 месяца назад
A paragliding video about 2-liner paragliders and the techniques that you have to use to fly them safely and avoid big collapses. 2-liners have extra long brake lines due to the fact that as you push speedbar, the glider hinges on the B's and the tail gets further from the pilot the more bar you push. This creates a slightly different hand position while you fly, and because the rear risers are...

    I fly for the scenery. I do prefer my higher B because its faster if the wind gets up. So many of my pilot friends have gone to a C, had a prang and cone back to a B. I love my rush 6. Unfortunately, i put on a bit of weight, so I'm now flying it a couple of kilos over the max. Good motivation to stay healthy tho. I had to slow down on the pancakes. lol

    This video has confirmed what I have been trying to figure out about myself. Why the hell do I want to keep paragliding after I crashed about 5 weeks ago and had to be rescued by helicopter due to injuries and not being able to walk due to the unbelievable pain. I am lucky to be alive for sure and take full responsibility for my actions of flying in weather I should not have been flying in. I had to have three vertebrae fused lower back. I said I was not going to fly any more, but I want to fly again, just smarter and realize my limitations as I progress and learn. It is like an addiction for me and even before I crashed, I would have personal debates with myself in my head as to why I even do this sport. I originally thought it would be a good way to over come my fear of falling to my death, dreams I have had in the past riding a bike or motorcycle and hit a little jump and catch air and then start getting higher and higher then start to fall. I always knew I was dreaming but it did not help during the dream. When I wake up from it, all sweaty and scared to death as if it were real. I went and tried sky diving first, just a tandem jump, it was fun, my thought as we tumbled out of the air plane and looking down at the ground, so this is what it feels like to fall to your death....It did not feel like anything. I realized to do this sport I need a runway, airport, airplane etc. Not really somethings I have access to without spending a lot of money. Something I don't have much of to begin with. I looked into paragliding, I live in Salt Lake City, UT so point of the mountain is right there. All the while wondering why I am really doing this sport or is it therapy?? I was scared sometimes to launch, so I did a lot of kiting which is a benefit for sure. I have had hard landings but as time went on I got better at understanding my wing and gear and learned to trust it but still, get scared or nervous sometimes when I get bounced around or go into sink which is a butt pucker for sure. That stuff I got used to or at least do not tense up and stay relaxed. I ask myself why do I do this?? I know the consequences and chances of something going wrong possibly will be costly if not even lose my life for this thing I love to go do but have so many reasons why I love it. At the end of the day, I know I am a better person if anything for myself but I think all around for every aspect of my life paragliding has opened up someone I did not know before. Even with this crash, I was blown back on a heavy thermal day, first time to bench up and then times that by 2. Amazing lift but just couldn't get down and should have stopped flying way earlier than I did. Even having fused disks I am wanting to get out there again but in a more controlled environment. I have learned from this experience very costly, but I know it's not wrong to have emotional needs met by doing something that scares the hell out of me sometimes but at the same time I want more of it!! I feel accomplished after landing and good few hours of self fulfillment and adrenaline as well as more progress. I have been doing it for three years now and have a life time of learning still. I had just turned 60 before the crash, but it's only a number. I ride a ZX 1400 and yes, I love to top it out close to 200 mph. Just for a second, then take it down to reality. Always have had a motorcycle, probably for the same reasons. Still a kid in this body for sure and not going to change that ever. Ari thanks, I have watched many of your video's and I love your cold harsh honesty in all of them. Thanks. Happy flying!!

    Interesting clinic, but the price of €5000 is crazy. Even 4000 would be more than enough, if you compare with your competitors/ colleagues. Have you even got booking?

    • @AriintheAir
      @AriintheAir 16 дней назад

      @@Toffen62 yes, the premium price reflects the kind of client I seek: successful men who value world class paragliding instruction but also desire a container that is emotionally intelligent and intentional for personal development. I don’t know of any other offering like this, but please share if you do, they are surely my future friends and colleagues, not my competitors. As for my bookings, Yes, the group is shaping up nicely. A startup founder, a tech team leader, a therapist and a few others. I have interviewed each for fitment. If price is your only objection, then surely there are many guides out there for you bro! Also, the Bassano tour the week before is priced significantly less. Thanks for your questions and interest

      @Toffen62 15 дней назад

      @@AriintheAir Thanks for the answer. It’s hard for me to really understand what you put into your fancy sentence 'a container that’s emotionally intelligent and intentional' 😅 I believe it could really be a good course and price is absolutely not my only objection, I value personal instruction and quality, but I don’t like to waste money, and unfortunately this price I feel is over the top. I have just been to two fantastic weeks with your colleagues, one in Dune du Pilates, ground handling and soaring with Flyeo, and one in Verbier, XC-course with Verbier-Summits. The first one was 5 days for €900 and the second was CHF1195 for 5 days. That should be your price range.

      @Toffen62 15 дней назад

      Sorry, I forgot to say, these prices are without accommodation. In Dune du Pilat you had to find your own, either on the camping or hotels close by. In Verbier they offered the course also with accommodation for totally CHF1795

      @AriintheAir 15 дней назад

      @@Toffen62 Flyeo is Malin, right? He is so good. So glad to hear that you've had a great time recently with quality instructors. To be totally honest, I am not a full time paragliding instructor. I have been a professional athlete for my entire adult life, and I have made my living for the last years by educating men on communication and relationships. Majority of the men who have signed up for this tour are my clients, so there is already an atmosphere of healthy male relations, communication and authenticity. I am not incentivized to take strangers on an international trip, and I interview every applicant to see if I would like to spend a week or more with them in a situation as intense as a flying trip! This is what makes the trip so special and 'emotionally intelligent and intentional' as you mentioned. It works wonderfully; the people who come really, really value the trip and they get so much more than paragliding instruction. Thank you so much for your continued questions and comments on this! I would be totally happy to get on a call with you to discuss your interest and fitment. If money is really the only issue, I'm sure we could work something out. Cheers brother! Love and lift

All the wrong reasons I am sure . Horses taught me how to communicate with people . I am in training to paraglide , only twenty flights deep and $10.000 out of pocket .Why ? Honestly still not sure . I have quit drugs and alcohol and full time work to live this adventure ; ( and that still doesn’t satisfy my why ! Possibly the knock on the door of the reaper and prove I am not afraid , ( I probably am ) This Journey is thus far fulfilling and exciting and frustrating . Learning all things necessary is a challenge the weather and testing and reading are pushing boundaries I haven’t faced since failing High School . Examining myself and motivation is again new to me . As I push forward I will endeavor not to become callous to reality . And keep expanding my vision of love, empathy and passion for life . You mention in first solution- "ringing the bell" ie. full brake pull.- but not which side. Maybe its obvious but do we assume that is TOWARD the SAME SIDE , in the direction of the cravat/ collapsed wing tip? it seemed like that (same side) based on your body language indicating right hand side to illustrate cravat and brake pull in video. One thing you didn't mention which i noticed during a recent significant cravat was how far away from the collapsed wing tip i had to lean and as a result how difficult was to pull the stabilio or reach the effected lineset to adjust. #1:Staying calm was certainly helpful. Same question for the spin/stall technique (around8:00) would you spin stall towards the already cravatted side as iI would've thought. or away from the cravat . You don't indicate direction, in either case. I would think it would be obvious (*towards cravat) )however just to be sure I'll ask the stupid question. Thank you for the clarification/ confirmation. *edit. you did say "same side "towards the end when describing the deliberate second assymetrical as a solution to collapse. edit* One thing i did do to solve my issue was dive the wing AWAY from the cravated side using weight shift on the inflated side and then reinflate the pressure across the wing span with inside brake (away from cravat) -worked like a charm. big sigh of relief. lol Great videos. appreciate your insight & enthusiasm. Thank you!

    Love the Infotainment here man! However I would like to add a little touch up. Injuries are only the result of a discrepancy in between workload and work capacity. Therefore an athlete that doesn't normally work out should maybe first work to a capacity of sustaining an hour in zone two, which is definitely not an easy task. only if that base is acquired i would recommend to slowly start dipping your toes into some zone four stuff as a intro into intensity and to see how your body reacts. a great start for someone would be the C25K program which gets you running for 5k straight pretty much without injury. Done that and still interested? Do the whole thing again this time with your pack! did that? your good to go for the advised above. in building true endurance I would go as far as to suggest an 80/20 split. where 80% of your workouts represent Zone two and 20% come in that zone four. That is if your goal is to become a beast, get absolutely gassed and remain injury free!
